Lloyd Marcus Attacked After National Stop Obama Tour

October 31, 2008

Upon arriving home from my national cross country 35 city “Stop Obama” tour, along with disapproving emails and a letter, an anonymous racist caller left the following message on my answering machine.

“Lloyd Marcus you ought to be ashamed of your self, only a black man running for president, and you gonna do that. You ought to be ashamed to call yourself an African American.”

The caller vilifies me for not casting my vote purely on skin color. I submit that the caller is the one who should truly be ashamed. He obviously has not considered Obama's re-distribution of wealth policies which will seriously effect our economy; basically taking from achievers to give to non-achievers. This exploits the sin of covetousness or class envy. He has not considered that Obama voted three times against a bill protecting infants who survive abortions by entitling them to medical treatment. The caller chooses to ignore Obama's long time association with his pastor and friends who hate America. Scariest of all, Obama believes that through the power of his charisma, he can “make nice” with world leaders who seek America's destruction. No, this knucklehead caller expects me to vote for Obama, a man whom I believe is seriously wrong for America, simply because he is black.

Boldly, I make the following proclamations. I am a Christian and hate no one including Mr. Obama. I am a black man who loves his country, the greatest nation on the planet. I have no resentment against white people. I don't believe America owes me anything because I'm black. I do not and will not be bullied into relating to people through an invisible wall of race.

In compliance with Dr King's dream, I judge people via the content of THEIR character rather than the color of their skin. Entitlement and Victim mindsets are destructive to the human spirit and achieving personal success.

For me, the stars of our “Stop Obama” tour were the wonderful, hard working, decent and good American people. These folks are not racists. Nor are they selfish for wanting to keep what they've worked hard to achieve. Unlike the arrogant left, they are wise and humble enough to believe in God, a power greater than themselves.

At three rallies, people prayed with me. At every rally, I invited everyone who served in the US military and Blue Star Moms on stage. I then sang “God Bless the USA” as a tribute to them and our active military. Such a tribute would rarely or never happen at an Obama rally. The grand finale of each rally was me leading the crowd in the singing of “God Bless America”. Whenever I heard someone with a good voice, I would give them the microphone. Many in the audiences cried which made me cry. It was truly a wonderful life experience connecting and bonding with my fellow Americans. Many are extremely frightened of an Obama presidency. Folks also expressed great gratitude for our tour.

The most compelling sign of the tour was held by a teenage girl who came 6am to stand behind Blue Star Mom Deborah Johns and myself as we did an interview on the nationally televised Fox and Friends. The girl's sign read, “Please save us!”.

The tour became my “Million Handshake March”. I used so much hand sanitizer, a company should use me as their spokesperson.

This election is about voter turnout. I can truly say that our 35 city “Stop Obama” tour left each city inspired, excited and energized to get out the vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin.
