THORNBY:  In response to a comment about thinking outside the box.

The entire point of the county and city spending public funds (our tax dollars) is to preserve the property in some fashion, not to build a store, restaurant or anything else. The current owner has wanted to build condos and stores far beyond what others thought the road could handle, and beyond what its current zoning. I understood there was a lot of history there.

I don't know what should be done, but suggesting businesses is not outside that box, that's the current box. The over 8 years of work to preserve the property through grants from several agencies was outside the box.
