If it ain't broke who's gonna fix it?
January 22, 2007
One would think that the City of Deltona would have learned from 'fixing' Lloyd Marcus's paintings the golden rule "Thou shalt not fix that which ain't broke."
But to this writer's surprise the City is currently looking for ways to fix the Construction Services Department to be more accommodating towards developers and builders.
Apparently, the City of Deltona is afraid of having a reputation with the contractors of being too difficult to work with. So the City recently hosted a luncheon for the area builders and vowed to make things easier for them.
Problem is, several big builders at the luncheon didn't feel that Deltona was any tougher to deal with than other cities.
Never mind the residents who have complained that Deltona's building code enforcement is too slack already.
Into one ear the citizens are saying "stricter enforcement," while into the other ear the developers are saying "what problem? We ain't got no problem with Deltona."
Oh, sure - it makes perfect sense to grease the wheel that ain't so squeaky...
You thought development was running rampant through Deltona before? See how fast she runs with less red tape and less hoops to jump through than ever before.
